Omega Support
A computer algebra system for iPhone
Omega is a full computer algebra system that runs entirely on your phone: exact arithmetic, symbolic calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, graphs, geometry and plotting, with no account and no connection.
Most questions are answered inside the app. Tap the Ω in the top-left corner and open Learn Omega for how the app itself works, or The Omega Book for the mathematics — fourteen chapters of lessons and worked examples, plus a reference page for every function the engine has.
Getting in touch
For a bug, a wrong answer, or a feature you would like: marcossprolo@gmail.com.
A report is much easier to act on with three things in it:
- the exact input you typed — you can select a cell and copy it;
- what Omega answered, and what you expected instead;
- your iOS version and the Omega version, which is at the bottom of Settings.
Common questions
Omega gave the expression back unevaluated. Is that a bug?
Usually not. Omega refuses to guess: when it cannot establish an answer it hands the expression back rather than inventing a number. If the refusal looks wrong, it is worth reporting — that is exactly the kind of report that improves the engine.
A calculation is taking a long time.
Long computations can be stopped. Omega checks for cancellation while it works, so a running cell can be interrupted and the app stays responsive.
Where are my notebooks kept? Can I get them back?
In the app’s own storage on this phone. Omega also keeps a recovery draft of unsaved work, so a forced quit does not lose what you were typing. Deleting the app deletes everything it has saved, so back up anything you want to keep — a device backup includes it.
Does Omega work offline?
Always. The app has no network code of its own and the whole engine is on the phone. The only step that needs a connection is Apple’s: buying or restoring a subscription talks to the App Store, not to Omega.
How does the free trial work, and what happens after it?
Omega opens straight into seven full days with everything unlocked — no account, no card, nothing to sign up for. After that the app asks for a subscription, monthly or yearly; your notebooks and scripts stay on the phone either way.
I already subscribed, and Omega is asking me to pay again.
Tap Restore purchase on the subscription screen with the same Apple Account you bought it with — that is what it is for. A new phone, a reinstall or a second device all take that same route.
How do I cancel or change my subscription?
In iOS Settings: tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Omega.
Cancelling and switching between monthly and yearly are done there, because
Apple — not this app — holds the subscription. Refunds are
requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Does Omega collect anything about me?
No. See the privacy policy.
Why is the app iPhone-only and portrait-only?
Because that is the version that is finished. Landscape and iPad layouts are real work rather than a switch, and shipping them half-done would be worse than not shipping them.

Omega is built on open-source work. The app lists every piece of it, with the full text of each licence, under Credits & Licenses in the Ω drawer.
